Most people that travel Maltby Road have passed the gated area that says “DIBROVA” and wondered what is this?
Located west of Scanton Middle school on the south side surrounding Thomas Lake you will see a Trident mounted on the access gate. No reason to wonder anymore.
Myrosia Stefaniuk has spent summers there over the past 50+years and has written a book, Dibrova Diary. This details life behind the gates of this beautiful rustic woodlands. You will learn the history of this special place hidden under the canopy of mature oaks that is the summer retreat for many Ukrainians of metro Detroit.
Mira’s presentation on DIBROVA will be at the CoBACH Center, Sunday, September 29th from 1 to 2:15pm. Seating is limited to (45) guests.

Old Village Cemetery, Annual Clean-up

Please join the Brighton Area Historical Society and the Brighton community for a morning of “civic pride” at the Old Village Cemetery. The debris from winter including broken branches and leaves are being removed to prepare the cemetery for the upcoming Memorial Day. There are (47) soldier graves and about (550) graves of the early fathers and mothers of Brighton. Each grave deserves a respectful appearance and your help is critical.
